I graduated from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan and after working in various specialities under Surgical training in the UK, I finally saw the light of general practice. I am currently practising as a general practitioner/family physician in the United Kingdom. I am a member of WONCA (Global Family Doctors) and am part of the working group on health equity. I am also a supervisor for trainee doctors with the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board as well as a Tutor and Examiner at Cardiff Medical School and am an active member and contributor to the cause of implementation and development of Family Medicine in Pakistan. In 2015 I helped in laying the foundations of APHCP with a few like-minded GPs.

I am also a reader/reviewer for Khyber Medical Collge University Journal (KMUJ). The KMUJ: KHYBER MEDICAL UNIVERSITY JOURNAL ” is the official journal of KHYBER MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (KMU) Peshawar Pakistan. KMUJ (previously published as KMJ-KUST MEDICAL JOURNAL) is a peer-reviewed journal and follows the uniform requirements for Manuscripts submitted to Biomedical journals, updated on http://www.icmje.org.

In my spare time, I also teach Arabic while continuing to be a student of the language.

I was born in Newport and moved to Cardiff when I was seven years of age. Both my parents are from Pakistan originally having arrived here in the late 1960s.
I went to school, college, and university in Cardiff, Wales. I obtained my medical degree in 1996 from the University of Wales College of medicine. Following this, I did by basic surgical training in Wales. Then I did my GP training in the area where I now work.

I am currently a senior partner in an urban practice in the centre of the capital city of
Wales .My patient group reflects the local diversity in the area In which my practice is located.

I am involved in GP education working as an appraiser for Cardiff University. I am also a tutor for medical students. I have also worked as an honorary lecturer at Cardiff University. I have been involved in shaping the future of local health service needs and I’m currently the community director for Cardiff city and South.

12. Dr Abdulrashid Siddique MBChB, MRCGP

I graduated from the University of Aberdeen and started GPVTS training. I worked as a GP partner in Aberdeen for 10 years. Then I moved to Qatar where I have been working as a Consultant Family Medicine for the past two years with PHCC. I have a special interest in Occupational Health and Hyperbaric Medicine. In addition to my GP partnership job, I have worked with a private company in Aberdeen in this field to provide a health care to offshore industry via telemedicine. I am utilising these skills to provide primary care service in Pakistan in remote areas via telemedicine as well as in Islamabad in Diagnostic Centre. I have passion in supporting our colleagues in Pakistan to improve Primary Health Care and provide better health care to our population in Pakistan. I was an honorary lecturer at the University of Aberdeen and have taught medical students and new graduate interested in Family Medicine.

Being inspired by general practice, I changed my career path and successfully completed my training and MRCGP in 2013. Currently, I am lead GP in Dr’s Ansari, Kapadia and khan medical practice in Glasgow. I am practice quality lead and responsible lead GP for chronic disease register. I’m really enthusiastic about my job. I have hosted sessions for overseas GPs in my practice and will be more than happy to facilitate this for trainees from Pakistan. Family medicine is quite developed all over the world and I think it’s time to bring change to our homeland.

Dr.Umer Farooq, Associate Professor, Community Medicine did his MBBS in 1996, Masters in Public Health(MPH) in 2000 and PhD Epidemiology and Health Statistics in 2011.
Before joining as a lecturer in Ayub Medical College in 2002, he worked as District Coordinator for Health Management Information System in KPK Health department. He was promoted to Assistant professor in 2003 and then as Associate Professor in the department of Community Medicine in 2012.
Dr.Umer Farooq is the Chairman Proctorial Board, pubmedAMC since 2012 and Managing Editor of JAMC since March 2013.
Dr.Umer has to his credit 21 research papers, publishPubMed/MEDLINE-indexed peer-reviewed journals and some of his research papers are published in high ranked international journals achieving an impact factor of more than 7.
Dr.Umer had been a part of various national and international research projects including Burden of disease and quality of life studies in china and European Union Nutritional health assessments in Pakistan.
Dr.Umer Served as Short time adviser of WHO, EMRO, Egypt for Human Resource Management in the health sector and has attended various national and international conferences. He served as Deputy Course Coordinator for National Training course on Emergency Preparedness and Humanitarian Action by WHO and MOH Pakistan.
Dr.Umer was a part of the team to develop guidelines for preventing HIV/AIDS in emergency Situations in Bangkok, Thailand by UNAIDS and has been contributing for World Justice Report as a Public Health Specialist from Pakistan since 2013.
Because of his keen interest in research, he has been a part of the development of MSC. Epidemiology and PhD program of KMU and served as visiting faculty for teaching research methodologies to PhD scholars of KMU.
Dr.Umer is HEC Approved Supervisor for PhD public Health and CPSP Supervisor for FCPS and MCPS Community Medicine.
